FUSE / NAGE Local R1-144 successfully negotiated a settlement with NUWC Newport management today that ended a 5-month stand-off over Incentive Pay increases and bonuses that began in Oct. 2016. The settlement ensures that over 2,000 FUSE bargaining unit members will receive the pay increases and bonuses they earned in Fiscal Year 2016, which were unlawfully withheld by management while the parties negotiated their FY16 contract.
FUSE Negotiating Team members (President Dale Dandrea, Vice President Neil Jackson, Treasurer Al Tetreault, and Sgt. of Arms Mike James) spent countless hours fighting for a contract that fairly compensates FUSE bargaining unit members after years of pay freezes, furloughs, and contract violations by NUWC, Navy, and the DoD. The Navy’s contract violations and illegal delays have impacted FUSE member’s pay increases and bonuses since 2013. The Union used all of the tools at their disposal, including grievances, Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) charges, Federal Mediation & Conciliation Service (FMCS) mediation, and Federal Service Impasses Panel (FSIP) mediation/arbitration to finally resolve their multi-year dispute with the Navy. We are happy that our efforts resulted in a fair contract for our 2,000+ members, and we are very proud to be able to serve them effectively.
